Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood has today said findings today by the Fire Services Bill Select Committee was vindication for those who felt Daniel Andrews was putting politics before genuine reform with proposed fire services Legislation.
‘The findings today of the Fire Services Bill Select Committee is damning of the Andrews Labor Government and its underhanded tactics in attempting to ram this Legislation through based on sham consultation,’ Mr Blackwood said.
‘From day one, Victorians have know this Legislation was about delivering for the UFU and Daniel Andrews Union mates, not about building a genuinely better fire service.
‘Our CFA, our volunteers, deserved better from this Labor Government and rightly will be outraged at the findings today.
‘Claims by the Andrews Labor Government that they widely consulted on proposed reform was also found to be a misleading. Continually this Labor Government has acted without properly engaging those their changes will impact from the fire services reforms, to SkyRail and more.
‘Daniel Andrews and his Labor Government should be ashamed of their bullying tactics they used in attempting to ram this Legislation through and I commend the Select Committee for calling out the Andrews Government for this behavior,’ said Mr Blackwood.
