Member for Narracan, Gary Blackwood, has said crime data released this week proves Daniel Andrews soft approach on crime has failed and the time has come for the Labor Government to outline exactly what it will do to curb rising criminal activity in our region.
Mr Blackwood said while local police did an outstanding job they needed the support of tougher legislation which has not been delivered under the Andrews Labor Government.
‘This is a very concerning trend for our region with crimes traditionally associated with metropolitan regions now spreading to country Victoria under this Labor Government,’ Mr Blackwood said.
‘Our regional police do an outstanding job with the limited resources they receive and it is time Daniel Andrews backed their work with the investment they need to tackle this issue.
‘Population in our electorate is exploding and if left unchecked these crime rates will only continue to grow.
‘We have seen no plan from Daniel Andrews and Labor to address this major issue and the time has come for this Government to stand up against criminal activity and help protect local communities and the families that live in them,’ said Mr Blackwood.
