Member for Narracan, Gary Blackwood, has welcomed today’s opening of the new Sand Road Interchange which has greatly improved safety at one of regional Victoria’s most dangerous intersections.
Mr Blackwood said the upgrade was absolutely necessary to improve safety for motorists who relied on the intersection on a regular basis.
‘The grade separation of Sand Road from the Princes Highway now means safer and more efficient travel for users of both roads,’ Mr Blackwood said.
‘A high percentage of vehicles using this intersection are freight or heavy commercial vehicles and by delivering this upgrade it means we reduce the risk of serious accidents which had plagued this intersection for years.
‘This is great news for both local road users and visitors to our region and I congratulate the project operators for delivering such an outstanding project with the support of both State and Federal funding.
‘I am proud that this project was funded by State and Federal Coalition Governments and that the project is now complete and ready for the community to use,’ said Mr Blackwood.
Funding for the Sand Road Interchange Upgrade was provided by State and Federal Coalition Governments and has been completed early and under budget.
