Year nine and 10 students are encouraged to apply for the Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC prize.
Member for Narracan, Gary Blackwood, said local students had until 30 October to apply for the tour that will visit Lemnos, Gallipoli and the Western Front.
“The Spirit of ANZAC Prize provides students with an amazing opportunity to travel overseas on an all-expenses-paid tour while learning about and reflecting on the spirit of the Australians who gave their lives so as we can enjoy the freedoms that we do today,” Mr Blackwood said.
"It is important young Victorian's have an understanding of our history and this award is an excellent opportunity to experience that history.
Mr Blackwood said applications could be submitted in a variety of mediums, including essays, artwork, musical compositions, and audio or video packages.
“Since it began in 2004, this important prize has captured the imagination of students and has provided them with the opportunity to see first-hand where Australian men and women sacrificed so much for future generations.
Mr Blackwood said in addition to those invited to participate in the study tour, 16 regional finalists would be invited on a study tour to Canberra which includes a visit to the Australian War Memorial.
“Applications close on 30 October and I encourage all local year nine and 10 students to consider applying,” Mr Blackwood said
