Member for Narracan, Gary Blackwood, has today congratulated the Labertouche & District Community Centre on being a successful applicant for funding from the 2015-16 Community Safety Fund.
Mr Blackwood said the Community Safety Fund supported local communities across Victoria in implementing crime prevention projects.
“I congratulate the Labertouche & District Community Centre on their project and being a successful applicant,” Mr Blackwood said.
“Funding of $8,550 will be provided to assist in the construction of barrier fencing around the Labertouche Public Hall.
“This will assist in preventing property damage and help protect the hall and its grounds from access by unauthorised vehicles.
Victorian councils and community groups can apply for grants of up to $10,000 per project.
Mr Blackwood said the grants program had been very popular locally in his time as Member and encouraged community groups to consider applying in the future.
“We have had a wide range of programs funded through this grant in the past including at recreation reserves, sporting clubs and aged care facilities.
“Each of the projects that have been funded across Narracan has been community driven.
“I encourage local groups to apply when the next round of funding for the Community Safety Fund is open in the future,” said Mr Blackwood.
