Member for Narracan, Gary Blackwood, has welcomed the opening of the final stage of the Warragul Station Precinct Upgrade which will deliver better transport connectivity thanks to an underpass linking Queen Street to Alfred Street.
“The $22.69m Warragul Railway Station Precinct Upgrade was a priority for the Victorian Coalition Government and I am proud of the project and its completion today,” said Mr Blackwood.
“The underpass will ensure the future development of areas to the South of the Warragul Station and help reduce reliance on the major roundabout at Queen Street which has to now been the only way of crossing into or out of the Warragul CBD for local traffic.
“This project received strong support from the then Minister for Transport Terry Mulder MLA and Premier Ted Baillieu MLA who understood the necessity of this crossing to support Warragul residents.
“It’s pleasing today to see both sides of politics today welcome the completed project as important infrastructure investments such as this should be supported by all local members,” said Mr Blackwood.
Mr Blackwood said that the underpass complimented other stages of the project already opened which have been well utilised.
“Improvements already completed including the new 200 space car park, bus interchange and drop off facility have already been completed and are well utilised by commuters,” Mr Blackwood said.
